Cherry Blossom Visitors at Jefferson Memorial (16" x 12" CANVAS PRINT)
Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
$75.00
Cherry blossoms are widely known for their fleeting beauty, symbolic of the ephemeral nature of life. In Washington, D.C., locals and tourists alike flock to the Tidal Basin in the spring to catch a glimpse of these fantastic trees.
There are no cherry trees in this painting, however—just the people who came to see them. Based on a photo I took at the Jefferson Memorial in March 2022, this painting captures some of the million+ cherry blossom visitors in D.C. Among them were elderly tourists, parents with newborns, four dogs, a professional photographer and possible future photographer, a biker, and a guy with a guitar. Painting all the distant figures was the highlight of this one. Since the scene lacked cherry blossoms, I made up for it by adding a little extra pink to the crowd.
